In the waiting

Seasons of waiting.

We are all in one, whether it’s waiting for school, that perfect job, a husband, a baby…
Whatever it is you’re waiting for, you are never alone.

Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

Now that I’m in my late 20s I think it’s so funny that I used to think I was a super patient person.
BOY was I wrong. If I’ve learned anything in the last 10 years,
it’s that I am way less patient then I thought I was.
Now, don’t get me wrong, in most sense’s I can be a very patient person,
even too patient in some areas.
One area I’m not always patient in is when I don’t see a light at the tunnel.
I like to try and take things into my own hands and control the outcome.
But God ever so gently gives me a tap on the hand and reminds me that I am not the one in control.
He is.
It’s His plan, His doing, all Him.
I don’t always like it but I know at the end of the waiting
His plan will be better than I could have ever imagined or hoped for.

I have a good friend that always says “If it’s not God’s best for me then I don’t want it.”.
When I hear that phrase it reminds me of how I should really be thinking.
It hits me in the lonely place where my heart longs to end this season of waiting.

How often do we feel alone in the waiting?
I don’t know about you but in the painful moments of waiting even when I know I’m not alone I still feel it.
Why do we so easily forget we have the best teammate anyone could ask for?
Waiting is hard, I think those who say otherwise are lying or are a way better person than I am.
But how else are we gonna learn to cling to Him and remember that He’s always on our side?
Seriously though, God is the best teammate we could ever ask for.
He fights for us, protects us, comforts us, and provides all we could ever need.

In the bible, God says 21 times  “I am with you”.
We are never alone, He is always with us.

How will we choose to spend our time in waiting?
Should we sit around and wait for God to bring us what we are longing for?
Or should we go out and do his work, praise him, and grow in Him?
Take heart and be encouraged in this season. God has a great big plan for you.
Remember to lean on Him in the tough times and praise Him in all things.

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 27:13-14

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
Isaiah 30:18

but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
