Unwanted
Finding our contentment

Sitting around, watching your friends,
acquaintances and other people dating,
getting engaged, married and having kids,
feeling left out and unwanted, sound familiar?

In my experience this has been a somewhat regular feeling, so why do we feel like this and how do we find comfort in this season? How often do people say “As soon as you find contentment in your singleness you’ll find the right person!”, so how do we find this true contentment? How do we become okay in the season we are in? In all honesty, I have no idea, but I’m learning by trial and error, through reading books and YouTube videos, praying, reminding myself of his promises, and just trying to focus on God in general.

So, here’s what I’ve doing and what’s helping me find contentment,

Books-

Like me or not helps you learn how to seek the only approval that matters – Find the book here.

Youtube videos – Girl defined ministries has some great videos on being single, waiting on God’s timing, and other videos on life as a Christian woman single or married!

Here’s a couple of their newer videos I enjoyed!

Praying and reminding myself of His promises-

Praying – I pray for His perfect timing, that He will prepare me to be a good wife and mother, and that He would bring the right man along. (for more tips on prayer click here –> READ)

Reminding myself of his promises

Trust and wait for what is still unseen – Romans 8:24

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? – Matthew 6:25-27

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28

“When it’s not God’s time you can’t force it. When it is God’s time you can’t stop it.”- Pastor Tim Schwindt

And the most important, focusing on God.

Focus on praising Him for where you are, focus on thanking Him for all He’s given you, devote yourself to learning about Him, celebrate all He’s done, and focus on glorifying Him in all you do, let Him steady your heart, and remember sometimes it’s okay to not be okay.

  1. Sarah says:

I remember those days and moments so well. All the well intentioned yet completely empty comments from the “no longer single” friends and family…
But I do know that God is good all the time .. all the time God is good. We can’t be certain what “good” will look like but we are blessed to have assurance that God is present and His Sovereign plan will unfold. Love your testimony in this season of your life!
